8 Weeks!

Wow, what a busy week. Well, some sad news at first.   My grandmother, Carol Faulkner Lord, passed away last week.   She actually died on her birthday.  :(   I'm glad she is no longer in pain, at the same time, I really miss her.  It has been a hard week trying to deal with her passing.

I wasn't really planning on going camping this last weekend, but because of my grandmother passing, I didn't really want to be alone, so we all went to Kodachrome Canyon with the family.   Kodachrome was beautiful!  However, the gnats attacked the babies and I spent most of the vacation inside the trailer.  Plus it did a number on my allergies.

Then just last week we went up to Eden, UT at the Wolf Creek Resort.   That was a lot of fun, we enjoyed swimming and playing many rounds of phase 10.   Braedan didn't enjoy swimming so much, as he had his first "underwater" experience and didn't like that too much.   I think I need to get him into swimming lessons soon, so he don't create a fear of water.

Let's see.. 8 weeks.. the allergies are the big kicker this week.   Morning sickness is there too, but I notice if I can't smell.. it doesn't flare up.   As soon as I can smell.. well yeah.. morning sickness all the way.   So it's like.. do I don't want to smell or do I want to throw up?  I have to add that the Nettipot is the most amazing invention ever.   It worked wonders with me!   I will sing it's praises all day long.

Here's a cute picture of a representation of my baby right now:

And another one:

Your baby is growing at an amazing rate — about a millimeter every day — and now is the size of a large raspberry. Your little berry is looking a lot less reptilian (even though she has webbed fingers and toes, her tail is just about gone) and a lot more baby-like these days, as her lips, nose, eyelids, legs, and back continue to take shape. Her heart is beating at the incredible rate of 150 times per minute — about twice as fast as yours! And even though you can't yet feel it, she's now making spontaneous movements as she twitches her tiny trunk and limb buds.

7 Weeks!

So morning sickness hit me like a freight train this week.  The food aversion started as well, but it's not nearly as bad as last time.  Washing dishes, looking into the fridge, changing poopy diapers, FORGET IT!!  One funny incident, we were driving home from my parents house, and I was SO sick, and so my husband pulled over to Maverick, some random driver got mad at us I guess for crossing lanes too fast.  My husband remained so calm, and said "God bless him, God bless him" while I was literally hanging my head out the window trying to keep it all in, hehe.

Let's see.. don't have any real cravings this week (even though hubby is getting me my favorite chinese tonight!), but the aversion has definitely started.  It's more like the food you DO NOT want to eat.  For example, bland food, spicy food, too much butter, etc.  It just kinda depends.

I've started up a new mantra for morning sickness:

This is my body, I should listen to it
I surrender myself to the discomforts
in order to best provide for my child within.

Yeah, instead of complaining, I'm just taking it in strides.  Morning sickness isn't forever, once the placenta is finished growing, it will get better again.  In the meantime, when I'm sick, it means I'm either a) hungry, or b) ate too much.   When I'm tired, it means my body needs to re energize from all that baby making.  So it means my baby is growing.   Trust me, it becomes easier to deal with once you think about it like that. :)

6 Weeks!

It's been a productive week so far.   My main symptoms this week is nausea (no food aversion yet, quite the opposite, I'm always starving!), fatigue, and very annoying allergies.  Honestly the allergies outdo the morning sickness now.

We told the parents on Monday.  Braedan wore a shirt saying "big brother", and they all got the hint. We are all very excited for this next one.  My MIL says Braedan's twin is coming, and she thinks it's a boy.  My dad says I really become a parent when I have more than one kid, lol.

We went to our first prenatal yesterday.  We filled out a ton of paperwork, I'm super excited to be working with them for the pregnancy.  This is at the Central Utah women's clinic in American Fork.  I'm meeting with midwives instead of a Ob/Gyn.  I'm going to have my natural birth this time!

This is what our little tadpole baby looks right now:

This is a close up:

"You might be coping with full-blown pregnancy symptoms (sorry), but there's plenty of good news too. Your baby's jaw, cheeks, chin, eyes, ears, and nose are beginning to form what will eventually become one adorable face. In addition, her kidneys, liver, and lungs are developing, and her heart is now beating 80 times a minute (and getting faster every day). All this and she's still no bigger than the length of a nail head (about a quarter of an inch) from crown to rump!"

5 Weeks- so it has started..

So excited.. that's what I am.  Next week I'm going to our new obgyn to do some blood work and paperwork.  Then I won't have a prenatal until around 10 weeks.   I know my baby is tiny now, but I'm soooo excited for that first ultrasound!  Or heart monitor!!  :)

Funny story- so my first prenatal with Braedan, the doctor couldn't find him in the ultrasound, I was in tears!  Turned out I have an inverted uterus.   During the second prenatal they found his heartbeat, and I was like.. WOW I'm going to be a MOM!!  It was awesome.

So let's see.. 5 weeks along.   My baby is the size of a sesame seed, which frankly, makes me afraid to sneeze.   I am very, very tired.  I've been sleeping much more than usual.  Andy bought me some gummy prenatal vitamins, which are awesome, and will be even more awesome when my full fledged morning sickness comes in (I'm guessing in a couple weeks).   I've been craving protein, like eggs, yogurt, and cheese.

Your baby now resembles a teeny tadpole (complete with a tiny tail) and is about the size of an orange seed. The circulatory (or blood) system, along with the heart, is the first part of that tiny body to be functional; and as your baby's heart starts to form. Another part of your little tadpole that is under construction: the neural tube, which will eventually become your baby's brain and spinal cord.
